On Febuary 1st at 5:30pm Harvest Pointe Christian Church will be having their annual Chili Cook-Off and football party. Everyone who wants to be in the cook-off needs to bring their best Chili. As you know we have a big screen in the gym and we have flat screens in the brown room, nursery, and lobby. We will have various gaming systems (Wii, Xbox, and PlayStation) set up on all of TVs for the kids and the adults who still want to be kids. Everyone at the party will have an opportunity to sample the chili during the first half of the ball game. During half time we will vote on the best Chili. The winner will take home the trophy that everyone desires and hopes to obtain: The Harvest Pointe Christian Church Chili Cook-Off Trophy

As Rosa annouced on Sunday her and Shelby are leading the way for a Mission Trip to Haiti in 2010. There are a number of Harvest Pointe Christian Youth that are going on this trip. The first informational meeting for the Haiti 2010 Mission Trip is scheduled for Sunday, January 25th, at 1:00pm. The meeting will be held at Harvest Pointe Christian Church, 5968 State Route 132, Goshen OH. Lunchmeats & fruit trays will be provided, so feel welcome to arrive early and enjoy lunch with us (or just grab a plate when you arrive).
Rosa Miller or Shelby Baxter will be co-leading this team and the meetings will be held at Harvest Pointe Christian Church. The Mission trip dates are March 18, 2010 thru March 27, 2010. The mission team will travel to Lifeline Christian Mission’s facility located in Grand Goave, Haiti. Lifeline is a well-established organization that has been active in ministering in Haiti for almost 30 years and they will be our host in the field. To learn more about mission trips hosted by Lifeline Christian Mission , check out their website: www.lifeline.org
If you’ve traveled with us in the past, attendance for this meeting is not critical (although we’d love to have you join us). If you know someone that would like to join the team, please bring them to the meeting so they’ll have an opportunity to learn firsthand about what to expect and ask questions. Adults and students (age 12 and older) are welcome to join us on the trip, however all students must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
One of the highlights of this trip is to build a home for Manuchecha Pierre, Rosa Miller’s sponsor child. Many of you assisted in raising funds to build Manuchecha’s home (including offerings from the summer VBS program at Loveland Christian Church, Blessings for Haiti Scrapbooking Event, and through personal donations). It would be awesome if you could join us in building the home you helped to finance!
Feel free to tell anyone that is interested in traveling with us. Please contact Rosa Miller or Shelby Baxter if you have questions or need directions. Shelby is scheduled to be in Haiti Jan 8th through the 16th, so Rosa will be the primary contact during that time.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars now! If you would, please let Rosa Miller or Shelby Baxter know if you are interested in joining the team and whether or not you plan to attend the meeting (so they can plan the food).
